Description
This is a toy palate that lights up in the mouth. The product is intended for use as a palate and contains button batteries and lights that are activated by pressure. It is packed in a transparent blister pack. The front reads MULT-GLOW. The reverse carries the instructions for use, "Warning Choking Hazard, This toy has small parts, Not recommended for children under 5. Made in China."
Risk
The product poses: - a risk of choking, because a piece of the toy, which fits into the small parts cylinder, can be easily detached; - a chemical risk because, as this is a device intended to be placed in the mouth and activated by the teeth, it is feasible that it might lose its water tightness, thus exposing the internal circuit and the button batteries to liquids (saliva) which could cause a short circuit and leakage of chemicals. In addition, the markings and safety instructions required by the standard are missing. The product does not comply with the Toys Directive and the relevant European standards EN 71 and EN 62115.
